Prosa & Potry Tentang Cerita Ketika Cinta Bertasbih Dalam Bahasa Inggris

CHAPTER I
PRELIMINARY

A. Background
Literature is a creative and productive form in producing a text that has aesthetic value and reflects the social reality of society. The term 'literature' is used to refer to cultural symptoms that can be found in all societies, although socially, economically, and religiously, their existence is not a necessity. This means that literature is a universal symptom (Jabrohim (ed), 2003: 9).
As a form of cultural art, literature has its own world which is the manifestation of life as a result of the writer's observation of the surrounding life. In relation to literature, in general, people agree that literature is understood as a form of human activity belonging to art that uses language as material. So, material is a characteristic of literature as a work of art. However, this question will not answer satisfactorily about what literature is. As a system, literature is a roundness in the sense that it can be seen from various sides. Among these are the ingredients. Elis (in Jabrohim (ed), 2003: 10) argues about the concept of literature that (text) literature is not determined by the shape of the structure but by the language used by society. This shows the understanding that the language used contains functions that are more general than in the daily lives of people.
Literary works are born in the midst of society as a result of the imagination of the author and his reflection on the social symptoms around him. Therefore, the presence of literature is part of people's lives. The author as an individual subject tries to produce a worldview (vision du monde) on his collective subject. The significance of the individual subject being collaborated on the surrounding social reality shows that a literary work is rooted in certain cultures and certain societies. The existence of such literature, makes literature can be positioned as a social document (Jabrohim (ed), 2003: 59).
Among the main genres of literature are poetry, prose, and drama, the proverb genre, especially novels which are considered the most dominant in displaying social elements. Reasons that can be put forward, including: a) the novel displays the most complete elements of the story, has the most extensive media, presents the most extensive social problems, b) the language of the novel tends to be everyday language, the most common language used in society. Therefore, it is said that the novel is the most sociological and responsive genre because it is very sensitive to sociohistorical fluctuations (Ratna, 2006: 335-336).
Literary sociology is a reflective branch of literary research. This research is in great demand by researchers who want to see literature as a mirror of society (Endraswara, 2003: 77). Literary sociology is applied in this research because the purpose of literary sociology is to increase understanding of literature in relation to society, explaining that the creation is not contrary to reality in this case literary works are imaginatively constructed, but the imaginative framework cannot be understood outside its empirical framework and literary work not merely an individual symptom but a social symptom (Ratna, 2003: 11).
The Advantages of Novel When Cinta Bertasbih is a novel that teaches the reader to love the science of religion, the life of a modest society, and is always open to all possibilities when Allah has desired (Salma, 2009: Accessed February 22, 2010). In this novel it is told how the characters lived by always guided by the Koran and Al Hadist. In addition, the characters in this story can also co-exist harmoniously and love each other despite differences in ethnicity, culture and social class.
